" To those who have struggled with them, the mountains reveal beauties that they will not disclose to those who make no effort. That is the reward the mountains give to effort. And it is because they have so much to give and give it so lavishly to those who will wrestle with them that men love the mountains and go back to them again and again. The mountains reserve their choice gifts for those who stand upon their summits." - Sir Francis Younghusband

The Kugti Pass trek makes for a tricky expedition. It elevates to a height of 16600 feet and is dotted with walks over snow, moraine, glacier and bottomless landslides. This is the general route -Chamba-Bharmaur - Hadsar 2740 m - Kugti 3050 m - Duggi (Rudi) 3660 m - Glacier Camp 4270 m - Kugti Pass 5120 m - Marika Got 3966 m - Rape 3350 m, Keylong Manali. This is the highest altitude pass in the Pir Panjal Range, flanking the border of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Kelang Temple, Alyas meadow campsites and T-shaped Duggi valley are the 3 features one should do this slightly tough trek. It is possible to enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow capped mountains beyond Lahoul valley on one side and Manimahesh Dhars on the other. The major airport closeby is New Delhi and train station is Chandigarh.
