TOPIC: Diet for mountaineers

Diet for mountaineers 7 years, 9 months ago #51

Hi,

Is there a need to follow a specific diet for mountaineers?

What type of food should one eat?
What type of food should one avoid?

Do you mean diet while climbing or while training for mountains?

- As a general rule, while climbing, one should take protein and carbs mainly and avoid fat.
fat need energy and cant serve well as instant energy burst, which is must for a climber on the go.
where as proteins helps in recovery of wear and tear of muscles and carbs provide instant energy.

So what I really need to know is
the diet that I need to follow while I am training for climbing
and
the diet that I need to follow when I am actually climbing a peak. While climbing, should I avoid non-veg food just to be on the safer side
