TOPIC: Everest Base Camp

Everest Base Camp 7 years, 4 months ago #258

Greetings!!

I was planning to trek upto the Everest base camp next year and wanted some information from the more experienced mountaineers here. What is the best way to reach there? Who are the best organizers? What would be the approx. cost?
I would really appreciate any and all such help.
Also, it would be great if there are other people in this group interested for EBC or are already planning for it. Please ping back.

Cheers

Hi Kunal,

Everest Base Camp Trek is a wonderful experience. You can reach to Kathmandu from your place. Kathmandu is the hub of Nepal Mountaineering and trekking.

The can be started from two locations - Jiri or Lukla. Bur Most of the people start it from Lukla. For Lukla you have to take domestic fight from Kathmandu. Its a 20 minutes mountain flight. From Lukla typically basecamp is eight days trek of which you trek for six days and rest for two days at Namche Bazar and Dingboche/Pheriche. I have seen even inexperienced trekkers do complete this trek with this schedule comfortably.

Day to Day Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu arrival and preparations[1,300m/4264ft]
Day 02: A full day Kathmandu sightseeing tour and trek preparations
Day 03: Kathmandu- Lukla- Fakding [2,610m/8,561ft]: 4 hours walk
Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar [3,440m/11,283ft] 6 hours walk
Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar- Around 4 hours hike
Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Pangboche [3860m/12,661ft]- 6 hours walk
Day 07: Pangboche to Dingboche [4360m/14,301ft]-4 hours walk
Day 08: Another Acclimatization day-4 hours hike
Day 09: Dingboche To Lobuche [4,940m/16,203] – 6 hours walk
Day 10: Lobuche to Gorak shep [5,181m/16,994ft]- Everest Base Camp [5,364m17,594ft]- Gorek shep 7-8 hours walk
Day 11: Gorak Shep to Kala patthar [5545m/18,188ft]- Pheriche [4,280m/14,038ft] 7 hours walk
Day 12: Pheriche –Pangboche-Tengboche-Namche Bazaar [3,440m/11,283ft] 6-7hours walk
Day 13: Namche to Lukla (2,800m/9,184ft)

The approximate cost is: Rs 60,000 (sixty thousand) Ex-Delhi.
