Snow stability on mountain peaks depends on a number of factors. Snow stability mostly comes into picture during summer alpine climbing. One has to be very careful while going for an expedition in summer. The determining factors for snow stability are -
  • Slope angle, shape and aspect
  • Recent snowfall or wind transported snow
  • Current snow temperature & trend
  • Temperature since the last snowfall
  • How the snow feels underfoot
